Welcome to the HFRS Golf Society

The HFRS Golf Section not only has it's own internal Golf Competitions, it is also the platform for golfers in Hertfordshire to represent the county in National Events like the Sheriffs Cup. The opportunity is also there for players to represent the East District & England Fire Brigades in National Events.

Joining The Golf Section

The Golf Section is keen to increase it's membership so that it can ensure it's continued success in National Events & to also just enjoy the game of golf.

All Fire Fighters, whole time, retained & retired are welcome to join the HFRS Golf Society. All Standards are encouraged to join & we even have a special Order of Merit for player's with a handicap of 21 & above.

Another benefit to Joining the section is to gain a nationally recognised handicap. If you already have a club handicap then this will be used for Service events

To join the section costs just £10.00 per year & this entitles you to all entries into the Service Events as well as qualifiers for National & District Events. Payment to join the golf section is due by April 1st 2009 or at your first attendance at one of our events.
Cheques should be made payable to HFRS Golf Section.

Important information regarding Handicapping

In the society we closely monitor handicaps to ensure that all of our events are played fairly.

If you wish to join the Society or just want to play in the Inter Station Events it would be advisable to get a recognised handicap. If you would like to gain a handicap I would be happy to calculate it for you, please follow this link for an explanation on how to do it.

Failure to have a handicap will result in players wishing to play in HFRS Events only receiving a maximum allowance of 18 strokes until a proper handicap can be established. (unless a player is already declaring a handicap of 18 or below)
