Special offer for Fire Service Personnel at all Crown Golf, click hereNational Stapleford, 28th 29th JulyThe National Stapleford competition was held at Wychwood Park Golf Club & we sent a strong team to this year's event hoping to continue our success at National level. The team was Carl Blackett, Mark Saban, Darren Smith & Greig Harris. The course was in a very good condition & coupled with the changing weather (wind & plenty of showers) led to a very challenging two days out on the course. Day one saw a good performance from all the team & we were left in tied 3rd with Cheshire, one point behind Essex & three points behind Tyne & Wear. At the end of day one the whole field was given a treat in the form of a trick shot show which left everyone in awe as the pro was hitting massive drives off of house bricks & all sorts of other amazing shots. Day two & we thought a solid performance by the team would give us a chance at winning. Unfortunately it was not to be, good performances were once again put in by all the team but it was not to be our day. At the end of the comp we managed 3rd overall after beating Essex on countback. The comp was very well organised, the venue was challenging & a lot of money was raised for the firefighters charity, so all in all a very worthwhile 2 days.
